Hundreds of NOS service workers are employed through third-party providers and remain paid at minimum wage, despite performing increasingly complex and skilled tasks, according to Paulo Carvalho of the National Union of Telecommunications and Audiovisual Workers (SINTTAV/CGTP-IN).
The union criticized NOS for refusing to negotiate these workers’ conditions since 2023, even as the company reported €116.8 million in profits in the first half of 2025 and €273.1 million in 2024. Earlier this week, around three dozen outsourced workers held a strike outside NOS facilities in Porto.
SINTTAV warns that proposed labor reforms by the PSD/CDS-PP government could worsen the situation, making outsourcing easier and increasing precarious employment. The union stressed that current and proposed measures do not address existing problems and risk amplifying exploitation in the telecom sector.
