Microsoft is planning to put in $30 billion into the UK between 2025 and 2028, which is its biggest investment in the country so far.
Part of this money will go toward building up AI and cloud systems, with $15 billion set aside for new infrastructure. This includes creating the biggest supercomputer in Britain, which will use over 23,000 NVIDIA GPUs, and it will be built with Nscale.
The rest of the money will help keep Microsoft’s operations running smoothly in the UK.
This includes supporting its team of 6,000 people who work in areas like research, developing AI models, gaming, data centers, and customer service. The investment also includes working with important UK organizations such as Barclays, Vodafone, the NHS, the London Stock Exchange Group, and the Premier League to use Microsoft’s AI tools.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer praised the plan, saying it shows strong belief in the UK’s ability to lead in AI and advanced technology.
Microsoft says the project will create thousands of good jobs, help improve relationships with the US, and keep the UK as a top place for global AI development.
