Swiss company Markant has acquired Xelerate Markant Services International Portugal, marking a key step in strengthening its presence in Porto. The acquisition builds on a year-long collaboration focused on developing cloud-based B2B digital platforms. Markant plans to add 10 new jobs to its growing team in the region.
Markant Services International CEO, Mark Michaelis, noted that the acquisition provided access to "top-notch technological capabilities," with the Porto tech hub playing a pivotal role in product innovation. Xelerate.tech, a Portuguese-German business accelerator, has facilitated the establishment of tech centers for foreign companies in Porto. CEO Martin Zierheim emphasized continued partnership to foster regional growth.
To support its expansion, Xelerate.tech is investing €40 million over the next four years to build software development teams. It also plans to relocate to a larger office to accommodate increasing demand. This year alone, Xelerate hired over 40 engineers and made significant investments in new tech sectors.
