On November 28th, the third edition of IT Insight TALKS took place at the Lispolis Technology Forum in Lisbon. Hosted by IT Insight magazine, the event centered on the evolution of hybrid and multicloud technologies. Henrique Carreiro, IT Insight's director, delivered a keynote on their growing importance and challenges in digital transformation.
Hybrid and Multicloud: Redefining Strategy
Carreiro explained that hybrid cloud combines public and private clouds, distinguishing it from traditional on-premises setups. He also highlighted the rise of multicloud approaches, comparing them to assembling "Lego pieces" from various providers to address specialized needs like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning.
Infrastructure and AI Transformation
Carreiro drew parallels with the Dot-com boom of 2000, stressing that global infrastructures like data centers and submarine cables remain vital for cloud expansion.
AI, he noted, is reshaping cloud services and development processes. Providers are developing proprietary processors and cost-optimization solutions to meet AI demands. “Vertical integration is transforming the cloud rapidly,” Carreiro added.
Interoperability and Flexibility
Carreiro called for greater interoperability among providers, driven by customer needs. Reducing migration costs and creating interoperable services are key to making the cloud a more adaptable system.
He concluded by emphasizing the strategic need for flexibility. "Companies must adopt hybrid, public, and multicloud solutions to fully leverage the cloud's potential," Carreiro stated.
