For the third time, media group Impresa is considering selling its headquarters in Paço de Arcos, once again using its property as a financial tool. This comes after reporting record losses of €66.2 million in 2024, a drastic fall from €2 million in 2023, primarily due to a €60 million impairment in its television segment (SIC).
Impresa originally sold the building in 2018 in a sale-and-leaseback deal worth €24.2 million, following a failed bond issuance. In 2022, it repurchased the property from Novo Banco through a discreet deal, financed by a loan from the same bank. The purchase amount was below the 2018 sale price, and the group has since been paying a high-interest loan.
Now, facing stagnant revenues and rising net debt (€131 million in 2024, up from €115 million), Impresa is once again exploring the sale of its facilities, likely seeking an immediate cash injection. This move reflects ongoing financial struggles in a challenging media landscape, with limited options left for restructuring.
