Sérgio Santos Pereira, Country Managing Partner of Forvis Mazars Portugal, emphasizes that the firm aims to grow its market share while maintaining a close, personalized relationship with clients.
He states:
"We have a market highly concentrated in the so-called big four. Our goal is the one we've been achieving: to be clearly fifth in the market.
Now, we don't want to be a big four. We want to maintain a much more personalized, local service. We don't want to enter a mass market where the customer doesn't understand why we are Forvis Mazars, why our culture is distinct, why our human concern is so distinctive."
He explains that Forvis Mazars is expanding nationwide, considering the integration of smaller auditing firms (SROCs) to strengthen technology and human resources capabilities, particularly outside their existing offices in Lisbon, Porto, Leiria, and the Algarve.
Pereira also notes that recent regulatory changes and increased market demands are accelerating consolidation among smaller SROCs, allowing the firm to provide high-quality services while preserving its culture and client-focused approach.
