Fnac Darty Invests €5 Million in Media Markt Rebranding and Plans 40 Stores in Portugal by 2030

Fnac Darty Iberia is changing the look and feel of the Media Markt stores it recently bought in Portugal into Darty stores. They have already spent around €5 million on renovating and rebranding these stores in the first three months. The company took over Media Markt’s operations in Portugal in October 2023 and spent two years assessing the situation before deciding to bring back the 70-year-old French Darty brand. This move shows their focus on selling home appliances and tech products.

Right now, Darty has nine stores in Portugal and plans to open 40 by 2030, which will create about 500 new jobs.

The expansion will mainly include smaller stores, each needing an estimated €1 million to set up, along with a completely redesigned website.

Fnac Darty wants to make Darty stand out from FNAC and other competitors like Worten by highlighting its knowledge in home appliances and technology, offering reliable service, and providing products that are more targeted.

Meanwhile, FNAC will continue focusing on culture, entertainment, and tech, especially growing in music and vinyl sales. The group is following different paths with its various brands while still working together as a whole.
