Fidelidade Acquires 70% of IM Gestão de Ativos

Fidelidade has announced the acquisition of a 70% stake in IM Gestão de Ativos (IMGA), a move that makes the insurer the largest independent private asset manager of investment funds in Portugal. The agreement was signed on December 30, though the value of the transaction was not disclosed.

With this deal, Fidelidade’s assets under management rise to €25 billion. CEO Rogério Campos Henriques said the acquisition strengthens the group’s ability to deliver long-term savings and investment solutions, helping Portuguese citizens better prepare for retirement and achieve greater financial security.

IMGA is the largest independent asset manager in Portugal, overseeing more than €6.1 billion across 33 investment funds. Founded over 35 years ago, the company has been fully owned by Spain’s CIMD Group since 2015.

CIMD Group CEO Iñigo Trincado described Fidelidade’s entry as a strategic step that enhances IMGA’s capacity to serve investors, while preserving its team and management culture. IMGA CEO Emanuel Silva highlighted the deal as an opportunity to gain scale and accelerate growth.

The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and will keep IMGA’s current management team in place.
