Equinix, the American data center company, plans to establish its third data center in Lisbon by 2027, following the near completion of its second center in Prior Velho.
- The second data center, LS2, is set to open in June 2024 with a €100 million investment.
- Equinix Portugal is aiming to expand its facilities due to 100% occupancy of its LS1 building, which opened in 2000.
The country’s attractive conditions, including access to submarine cables, renewable energy, and affordable land, are expected to foster continued growth in data center investments, with other companies like AtlasEdge and Merlin Properties also planning new centers.
