Devoteam Lithuania, part of the French cloud tech consulting group Devoteam, is cutting 14 jobs because they don't have enough work, the Lithuanian Employment Service says.
The company employs 84 people in Lithuania. They told officials that the layoffs will mostly affect engineers (6) and managers (3). These job cuts are planned between February 4 and March 4, following Lithuanian labor laws.
Milda Jankauskienė from the Employment Service told Delfi that the decision is due to company changes after a drop in work.
Even though Devoteam pays well—around €4,400 to €5,600 or more per month before taxes—they've been losing money recently, with losses in the millions, according to the Center of Registers. But, Devoteam Lithuania doesn't owe money to Sodra (social security) or the State Tax Inspectorate.
Devoteam came to Lithuania in 2019 and has offices in Vilnius and Kaunas. They even opened a new office in Kaunas in March 2023, planning to keep investing in cloud tech skills, announced by Invest in Lithuania. They work with big names like Google, Microsoft, and AWS.
Devoteam started in 1995 and calls itself a tech consulting company that uses AI and focuses on cloud platforms, data, and being sustainable. Worldwide, they have over 11,000 workers in more than 25 countries in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Key takeaway: Even thriving tech centers with good pay aren't safe from downsizing. It looks like 2026 will be more about profits and being efficient, and less about expanding no matter the cost, which means hard choices.
