Cloudflare Acquires Outerbase to Enhance Database and Agent Developer Experience

Cloudflare has acquired Outerbase, a startup focused on simplifying database management and improving developer experience. Outerbase built a user-friendly interface for exploring, editing, and querying databases, including visual tools and AI-powered features.

The acquisition will integrate Outerbase’s tools into Cloudflare’s platform — particularly for D1, Durable Objects, and AI agent workflows. A new unified data explorer, improved CLI tools, real-time data support, and enhanced APIs are planned for rollout in Q2 2025.

The hosted Outerbase cloud will shut down on October 15, 2025, but open-source options will remain available for self-hosting.
