CIM Leiria Named Guest Region of Portugal Smart Cities Summit 2025

The Intermunicipal Community of the Leiria Region (CIM Leiria) has been announced as the Guest Region of the Portugal Smart Cities Summit 2025, taking place from June 3–5 at Parque das Nações in Lisbon. Organized by the AIP Foundation, this national event focuses on the future of smart cities, emphasizing the critical role of public entities in shaping regional policies and fostering municipal collaboration.

CIM Leiria's selection as Guest Region recognizes its leadership in innovation, inclusion, and territorial sustainability. According to Gonçalo Lopes, President of CIM Leiria, this is an opportunity to present the region as an Intelligent and Inclusive Territory. “The Leiria Region has become a hub of knowledge and innovation, attracting talent and investment in technology while maintaining a strong commitment to inclusion and sustainability,” he noted.

Strategically located between Lisbon and Porto, Leiria blends its industrial roots with a modern focus on entrepreneurship and technological development, creating a thriving ecosystem for startups and offering a high quality of life.

As part of its presence at the summit, CIM Leiria will host the conference “Smart Territories, Inclusive Cities” on June 4 at 3:00 PM in the Main Auditorium. The session will explore strategies and solutions to build more sustainable and cohesive urban environments.

The Portugal Smart Cities Summit 2025 enjoys the High Patronage of the President of the Republic and the institutional support of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, bringing together key players from the public, business, and academic sectors to drive Portugal’s urban transformation.
