Ageas Portugal to Notify Employees of AI-Driven HR Decisions

Ageas Portugal has made changes to its agreement with the SINAPSA and STAS unions. The new terms include more transparency about how AI is used in human resources. Now, whenever decisions like promotions, bonuses, or pay changes are made by machines or digital tools without a person involved, workers and the unions must be told about it.

This agreement applies to 1,428 employees for at least 36 months.

It also updates the pay structure, ensuring that salaries go up automatically based on how long someone has worked and how well they perform. The lowest salary for an operational assistant is now €1,065.24 per month, and the minimum for a general director is €3,526.14. The standard work week is still 35 hours, from Monday to Friday, except for those who work shifts.

Other benefits have also improved.

Employees now get a daily meal allowance of €12.50, updated travel and service allowances, and keep their health insurance, life insurance coverage (between €50,000 and €100,000), school support, and a 3.35% contribution to their retirement plan. The new agreement started on 23 September 2025.
