We are seeking a skilled and motivated Network Security Engineer to join our team in Porto. The Network Security Engineer will contribute to the day-to-day operation, monitoring and project delivery of the network environment, with a strong focus on security and infrastructure stability.
The role involves implementing and supporting business and IT applications, maintaining production network infrastructure and configuring network devices. A key aspect of this position is conducting security reviews across the environment, including firewall management, DNS, HLB and GSLB services.
The candidate will support the ongoing transition to Software Defined Networking (SDN), ensuring that security controls evolve accordingly. The role requires analytical and troubleshooting capabilities to diagnose and resolve network issues efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Review, implement and enhance the network environment.
- Maintain and update documentation related to corporate network implementations.
- Participate in troubleshooting and resolving network issues.
- Provide network project support to other teams, including the implementation of enterprise services, operational upgrades and new initiatives.
- Contribute to infrastructure and business projects by delivering the required network solutions and associated documentation.
- Perform vulnerability assessments, validation activities and upgrades on network systems and applications.
- Maintain operational processes such as configuration management and infrastructure monitoring.
- Optimize current network implementations and contribute to automation initiatives.
Qualifications
- 5 to 8 years of experience in network engineering or network security.
- Experience with Network Security platforms, including:
- Palo Alto Networks
- Check Point
- F5 Networks
- Knowledge of Software Defined Networking, particularly Cisco ACI (EPG configuration).
- Experience with DNS and GSLB solutions (Infoblox).
- Solid understanding of routing and switching technologies: BGP, ISIS, OSPF, VRF, MPLS, GRE, IPSEC.
- Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and QoS concepts.
- Experience with network automation using Python.
- Analytical and troubleshooting skills in complex environments.
- Must own a valid work permit or EU/Schengen Space Nationality to legally work in Portugal.
- Certifications (nice to have):
- CheckPoint Certified Security Expert (CCSE).
- Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE).
- F5 Certified Technology Specialist (F5-CTS).
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related disciplines.
- Fluency in English (French and/or Dutch is a plus).
Additional Information
- Flexibility for regular travel to Paris or Brussels (at least 3 times a year).
- Teleworking is possible, with a minimum of 8 days per month on-site.
