Junicoders, a startup incubated at UPTEC – Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto, has been recognized in the first edition of the Women Shaping Tech Awards, an initiative by the Portuguese Association for the Development of Communications (APDC). The program honors impactful projects that promote female participation in STEM fields.
The startup received the award for its Inclusive Technological Education for Children program, which teaches programming, robotics, and electronics to young learners, fostering gender equality and encouraging girls to explore technology. With the €10,000 prize, Junicoders plans to expand its educational initiatives and reach more students across Portugal.
Created by a group of engineers, Junicoders develops interactive learning tools, online games, and robotics courses for children, along with customizable home-learning kits. The award ceremony took place on October 8th during the STEM Women Congress Lisbon 2025, held at the Knowledge Pavilion in Lisbon.
