Meet a new generation of Portuguese entrepreneurs — born in the late '90s, raised with the internet, and now reshaping the tech scene beyond borders. Armed with degrees from some of Portugal’s most competitive programs, their ambition quickly outgrew the country’s limitations.
One such example is Tryp.com, a startup founded abroad that has now returned to open a research hub in Portugal. Co-founder André Rangel is proud to invest back home but doesn't shy away from pointing out the challenges. “In Denmark, everything was done online. In Portugal, we had to make several in-person trips. The bureaucracy slows you down,” he says.
These young founders are building globally minded companies — some already raising millions in funding — while navigating the gap between Portugal’s talent-rich ecosystem and its slow-moving administrative hurdles. Despite this, they remain committed to creating opportunities and innovation rooted in their homeland.
