TelCables Europe, the European arm of Angola Cables, has launched its operations in Portugal, naming Samuel Carvalho as its Chief Executive Officer for the European and North American markets. The move aligns with Lisbon's growing role as a hub for submarine cables and data centers, supporting demand for scalable, low-latency connectivity to meet the needs of digital transformation, the data economy, and real-time applications.
Established in 2024, TelCables Europe operates as a neutral access provider connecting Europe, Africa, and the Americas.
The company’s network includes data centers in Lisbon, London, and Marseille with submarine cables that connect to Brazil and the US, serving over 1,000 data centers and supporting 400 cloud services worldwide. The company anticipates an estimated turnover of around €15 million, boosting Portugal’s digital presence and reinforcing its role as an intercontinental digital hub.
In addition to his roles, Samuel Carvalho will guide TelCables Europe in positioning itself as a fully integrated acceleration platform for European operators, content providers, and enterprises that require direct access to key global markets.
With strategic Points of Presence (PoPs) in Lisbon and Sines, as well as connectivity to major players like Equinix, DE-CIX, Interxion, and Megaport, TelCables Europe ensures excellent transatlantic data traffic. The company is also the largest Portuguese-speaking connectivity service provider, handling approximately 1% of global internet traffic.
