Tekever opens training center in Peniche

Tekever has opened a drone training center in Atouguia da Baleia, Peniche, to boost its operational abilities in Portugal and offer expert training for its own teams.

Key details

The center has been running completely since early 2026 and has already started training its first group of trainees.

The training covers briefing rooms, hands-on practice with drone parts, and using a Ground Control Station (GCS) that runs Tekever's own ATLAS software.

The facility is capable of supporting various mission types, such as flying beyond the visual line of sight.

The company plans to train over 100 operators in 2026, working together with Tekever’s current UK center at West Wales Airport.

Strategic context

The center uses the special environment of Atouguia da Baleia to test, check, and improve important drone operations.

This initiative is part of Tekever's larger effort to invest in national operations, and they have a presence in several cities including Caldas da Rainha, Leiria, Lisbon, Porto, and Aveiro.

The company is continuing to invest in the UK, spending €400 million over five years, as well as in France and Ukraine, and plans to open a new unit in Swindon this year.

Arnaud Blanchard, who is the Head of Operations at Tekever, said:

This Training Center is an important move that helps us strengthen our operations in Portugal. It helps us create a consistent way to share field experience, improve training quality, and build up the teams that work and support our systems.

The Peniche center shows that Tekever is dedicated to training expert drone operators and helping with growth both in the country and around the world.
