Synopsys Layoffs: New Cuts in Sunnyvale

Chip software giant Synopsys is moving forward with its plan to reduce its global workforce. The company has just announced the layoff of 55 more employees at its headquarters in Sunnyvale, California.

Why are these layoffs happening?

These cuts are part of a larger 10% workforce reduction plan. Earlier in January, the company already eliminated 175 positions as it integrates its massive $35 billion acquisition of Ansys.

According to the latest technology news updates, Synopsys is cutting costs in traditional areas to invest more into its partnership with Nvidia. The goal is to focus entirely on AI-driven chip design.

The Global Impact

While jobs are being cut in the US, Synopsys continues to maintain a very strong presence in Portugal. Their offices in Lisbon and Porto remain key centers for the company’s engineering and research efforts.

According to devs.com.pt, this restructuring is expected to be finished by 2027. By then, the company aims to be a leaner, AI-focused leader in the semiconductor software market.
