Start Campus Expands Beyond Sines After Landmark AI Deal

Start Campus is scouting new sites in Portugal and abroad following the success of its Sines data center campus, CEO Robert Dunn revealed. The company recently closed what it calls Portugal’s largest data center deal, partnering with Nscale to install 12,600 Nvidia chips for Microsoft’s AI development.

The €275 million project in Sines leverages seawater cooling as a key efficiency and sustainability advantage, positioning it among Europe’s most advanced energy-efficient facilities. Encouraged by demand from global hyperscalers, Start Campus is now evaluating additional land acquisitions to expand its data center network and reinforce Portugal’s growing role in the international AI infrastructure ecosystem.
