Rows, the online spreadsheet platform popular for deep database integrations, will shut down on May 31, 2026, after its team was acquired by Superhuman (now part of Coda) — not by Notion, as some initially speculated.
Rows was widely seen as one of the best solutions for embedding and syncing spreadsheet data directly into Notion workflows, offering smoother database synchronization than traditional tools. With its closure, users are left without a clear like-for-like alternative to Google Sheets — especially for advanced integrations inside modern workspace platforms.
The shutdown also highlights a broader risk: when large organizations rely heavily on smaller SaaS products as core infrastructure. According to the company’s founder, L'Oréal was among the enterprises that used Rows extensively — making the discontinuation more than just a startup exit story.
For many teams, this is a reminder: innovative tools can move fast, pivot fast… and sometimes disappear just as quickly.
