WYgroup has unveiled a complete redesign of Portugal’s Social Security portal, calling it one of the most significant digital transformation projects in the country’s public sector. The initiative was led by WYgroup companies Bliss Applications, WYcreative, and WYperformance, in collaboration with the Instituto de Informática.
“This project was an exercise in co-creation and enormous responsibility,” said André Gil, CEO of WYgroup. “We weren’t just building for a client — we were building for the entire country.”
The overhaul began with in-depth audits of the existing system, including UX/UI and SEO assessments, data collection, and nationwide user interviews. Based on this research, the team restructured the portal’s architecture and created a new design system optimized for accessibility, usability, and mobile responsiveness. The redesign was tested with real users using neuromarketing and behavioral analysis techniques.
Now live at seg-social.pt, the portal integrates institutional content and Social Security Direct for the first time. It introduces intuitive features like benefit simulators and life-moment navigation in a streamlined, inclusive design focused on real-world user needs.
