The Portuguese government has launched the Rede de Simplificação e Tecnologias do Estado. This new group will lead the country’s digital changes. It is a key part of the Portugal Digital Strategy 2026–2027. The goal is to make public services faster for everyone.
According to devs.com.pt, this network will now control all state tech spending. By making decisions in one place, the government wants to build a better digital system. This replaces the old, slower way of managing technology.
Rules for New Tech Projects
A major part of the administrative simplification Portugal 2026 plan is a new approval rule. The state must now approve any big tech project before it starts.
This includes:
- Artificial Intelligence: All AI tools must follow safe and clear rules.
- Cloud Computing: The state will store data in a more organized way.
- Big Purchases: Every large tech contract will be checked for waste.
Working Together for Better Services
The Deputy Minister for State Reform will lead the network. Experts from the National Cybersecurity Center will also help. This new team replaces the old Council for Digital in Public Administration.
As reported in IT industry news, the main goal is interoperability. This means different state computers will finally be able to talk to each other. This will cut down on paperwork and save time for users.
