Manufacturing Tech Summit 2025: Digital Change and MES in the Spotlight

The Manufacturing Tech Summit 2025, held at Microsoft Portugal and put on by Muvu Technologies, gathered over 100 pros from industry and tech to chat about how digital changes, AI, and staying competitive are changing Portuguese industry.

Kicking things off, professor and consultant José Maria Pimentel made it clear that people's opinions still matter big time, even as things get more automated. Then, there were two panels. The first one, with Esteve, Introsys, and CTT, pointed out that doing digital stuff right isn't just about the gadgets – you gotta change how you think, learn new stuff, and plan things out.

Speakers drove home the idea of keeping things simple, knowing what to expect, and making sure new ideas actually help the business. CTT talked about how they went from just a mail company to a modern digital logistics operation.

Two quick talks backed up the idea of putting people first when it comes to new ideas. MUVU’s Bruno Silva reminded everyone that AI is the result of years of work, not a quick fix, and Microsoft’s Bárbara Almeida showed how AI can help make companies more competitive while working with people, not taking their place.

The second panel, with experts from PRODUTECH, INEGI, and international affairs, looked at what makes Europe's industries weak. Speakers said that relying on important raw stuff, shaky world politics, and online dangers are big risks. They argued for being self-reliant in industry, working together, and having a more active plan for industry. They noted that coming up with new and different ideas is super important for being competitive around the world.

The Summit wrapped up by saying that Portugal's got the talent and situation to make its industry stronger. But to get there, companies, schools, and tech partners need to work even better together. Muvu Technologies also showed off the next part of its RAILES MES platform, which mixes AI with factory management systems. They asked companies to sign up for live demos.
