The Portuguese health tech startup Lampsy Health has won the 2026 KPMG Global Tech Innovator in Portugal award, as highlighted in recent industry news. The company will now represent Portugal in the international final at the Web Summit in Lisbon.
Portuguese health tech startup wins innovation award
Founded as a spin-off from the Institute of Telecommunications and Instituto Superior Técnico, Lampsy Health focuses on safety and social inclusion for individuals with epilepsy.
The startup developed "Lampsy," a monitoring system built into an ordinary bedside lamp. Using computer vision and artificial intelligence, the device detects seizure movements without compromising user privacy, automatically alerting caregivers.

Evaluated by a panel of judges on innovation, market traction, and business sustainability, Lampsy Health triumphed over a competitive field that included Bloodflow, blueOASIS, Famel, Granter, Humanos, and Octo Health.
In addition to advancing to the global final, the startup receives 12 months of dedicated advisory, tax, and accounting support from KPMG Portugal, helping the company scale operations and create new jobs.
