Impresa, the owner of SIC and Expresso, announced that its majority shareholder-the Balsemão family-is in exclusive talks with Italy’s MFE (Media for Europe) group, controlled by the Berlusconi family, to explore a potential acquisition of a significant stake. No binding agreement has been reached yet, according to a statement to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM).
In 2024, Impresa reported total revenues of €182.3 million, up 0.2% year-on-year, with EBITDA rising 19.5% to €18.4 million. However, the company recorded a net loss of €66.2 million due to impairment charges; adjusted for these, the loss was €5.5 million, compared with a €2 million loss in 2023.
By contrast, MFE closed 2024 with revenues of €2.95 billion, an adjusted net profit of €266 million, and EBITDA of €792 million, up from €782 million in 2023, reflecting the Italian group’s strong financial position ahead of potential investment in Impresa.
