Present Technologies, a Portuguese tech firm specializing in software development, is transforming Coimbra’s first brewery into its new headquarters. Located on Avenida Emídio Navarro, the iconic building—once home to Companhia de Cervejas de Coimbra—will undergo major renovations, with completion expected by the end of 2026.
The company, which employs around 100 people and is celebrating its 25th anniversary, purchased the property three years ago. Co-founder Vítor Batista emphasized the goal of preserving the site's historic character while adapting it to modern needs. Plans include commercial and restaurant spaces on the ground floor.
Currently based at the Pedro Nunes Institute, Present Technologies says it has outgrown its space. “We had no real alternatives in the city, so we decided to invest,” said Batista. The building is also strategically located near Coimbra’s upcoming Mondego Mobility System, making it an ideal spot for attracting talent.
With sustained annual growth of 25–30% over the past six years, the company is doubling down on its expansion. Around 70–75% of its revenue comes from international clients across sectors like space, automotive, finance, and security. The new headquarters reflects a long-term commitment to Coimbra, with the potential to expand into adjacent buildings as the company grows.
