Future of Jornal de Letras in Doubt as Journalists Suspend Contracts

Jornal de Letras (JL) was absent from newsstands last week due to a staff strike over unpaid wages and benefits. Although the historic biweekly publication returns this Wednesday—one week late—its future remains uncertain.

With no viable solution from its owner, Trust In News, the entire editorial team has now suspended their employment contracts. JL, founded in 1981, may be nearing its final edition.

Trust In News, owned by Luís Delgado, holds 16 publications including Visão, Exame, and Caras. Its recently approved insolvency plan includes suspending or selling unprofitable titles, cutting staff, and repaying debts in installments.
