Fujitsu Deepens Its Longstanding Commitment to Portugal

With nearly 50 years of continuous presence, Fujitsu has firmly established itself as a key player in Portugal’s tech landscape, leveraging the country’s talent and strategic position to support its global operations. The Japanese tech giant, which celebrates its 90th anniversary globally, first entered the Portuguese market in the 1970s, laying the foundation for decades of investment and innovation.

Initially focused on building local technical expertise, Fujitsu quickly became a trusted technology partner across retail, banking, and public administration sectors in Portugal. The turning point came in 2005, with the launch of a Global Delivery Centre (GDC) in Lisbon. Starting with 200 employees supporting 40,000 global users, this center marked Fujitsu’s transition from local service provider to international operations hub.

The company's footprint expanded further in 2016, with the opening of a second delivery center in Braga. Today, Fujitsu’s Portuguese operations boast over 2,000 highly specialized professionals, delivering services to more than 60 clients across various international markets.

Portugal now plays a strategic role in Fujitsu’s global service delivery model, and the company’s continued investment reflects confidence in the country’s technical talent, infrastructure, and business environment.
