Freedom24 has opened an office in Lisbon, marking its expansion into Portugal, where it already helps between 10,000 and 15,000 clients. The new office will be run by João Lampreia, who previously worked as the chief strategist at BiG - Banco de Investimento Global. He will take on the role of director of operations for the local team.
The company initially thought about buying a Portuguese bank but decided instead to grow on its own.
Lampreia explained that Portugal’s wealth management sector has been growing quickly, with more activity from brokerages, family offices, and small investment firms. This shows that more people in Portugal are managing their money through these services.
Freedom24 wants to improve its support for local clients and expand its investment offerings.
This step helps the company become a bigger player in the low-cost European brokerage market.
