On May 31, global capital markets software developer Devexperts hosted its first dxTechTalk conference in Porto, attracting over 100 members of the Portuguese tech community. Held at DeHouse Península, the event raised €500 for local charity Pressley Ridge and supported local small businesses and SMEs through an on-site pop-up market.
dxTechTalk, a Devexperts-led community, has been promoting knowledge sharing and networking since 2019, with meetups growing in popularity both in Portugal and abroad — from Tbilisi to Istanbul. The Porto conference marked a milestone in engaging the broader Portuguese tech scene.
Designed for all experience levels, the half-day event covered themes such as AI in development, accessibility trends, and digital product design. Sessions also addressed essential leadership skills, emphasizing the importance of community, diversity, and inclusion. A hands-on #IAmRemarkable workshop, led by Google-certified coaches, added an interactive dimension.
“Tech is a growing part of our lives, and we want to be part of the conversation,” said Paulo Pina Pires, CEO of Devexperts Portugal. “The event brought together a diverse group of people to talk about what really matters — from innovation to inclusion. Most of all, dxTechTalks are meant to be fun and inspiring.”
The conference welcomed representatives from leading local tech groups, including Matosinhos.tech, The Test Tribe, CO:next, Ladies that UX, and 351 Startups, creating opportunities for networking and professional growth, especially for students and early-career professionals.
The event also had a strong local flavor, with Nonna Pasta Fresca and Luˈkaɫ providing lunch, and local businesses offering products at an informal market during the afterparty.
“Our goal is to build a strong, connected tech community,” added Marina Kauponen, Head of Culture at Devexperts. “We were thrilled with the turnout and proud to support both a good cause and local entrepreneurs. This is just the beginning — we’re thinking long-term.”
Devexperts has been developing solutions for capital markets since 2002. Its Porto office employs around 250 of the company’s 800+ engineers globally.
