Decathlon Portugal Boosts Minimum Pay Beyond National Standard

Decathlon Portugal is bumping up its minimum pay to €1,000 before tax each month. This is for full-time workers who've passed probation. That's better than the country's minimum wage, which is going up to €920 this year.

They're also upping starting salaries for some manager jobs, like sports managers, to €1,350 before tax a month. Add in food money and flexible hours, and they're looking at €1,853 a month, before tax, guaranteed. Plus, there's a chance to get extra money if they do well.

Decathlon says this new pay plan shows they value what workers bring to the table and want them to have good, stable jobs. The changes kick in on January 1, 2026.

José Fonseca, who runs Decathlon Portugal, says they want to make sure employees have what they need to do well and help the company grow.
