CTT Workers Begin Strike in Lisbon, Coimbra, and Maia, Lasting Until February 2026

A strike by workers of CTT - Correios de Portugal begins this Saturday, affecting logistics and transport centers in Lisbon, Coimbra and Maia. Organized by the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (Fectrans), the strike demands better working conditions, including more staff, improved schedules and routes, and full compliance with the Company Agreement.

According to Fectrans, these are “fundamental issues for improving the public postal service.” The protest will continue until February 27, 2026, with periodic stoppages at different CTT centers nationwide.

- Lisbon: Strike at the Service Preparation and Launch Center during the first work period, targeting long shifts with extended breaks.

- Coimbra: Taveiro Logistics Center workers on strike during the first hour and a half of their shift.

- Maia: Workers at the National Logistics Platform striking during the second work period.

Fectrans warns that the lack of human resources is putting service quality at risk. The union says this protest goes beyond wages - it’s about “humanizing work and defending the quality of an essential public service.”
