Portuguese technology company Critical Software is strengthening its position in the US space sector with a strategic investment in Turion Space, a California-based startup focused on satellite technology. With decades of experience in aerospace projects—including collaborations with NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA), and Airbus Defence & Space—Critical Software aims to generate $3 million in revenue from the North American market within three years.
The company is developing software for Turion’s satellites, enabling remote control and communication from Earth. Its Karvel platform, designed for medium-sized satellites, supports a range of applications, from Earth imaging to debris removal. By expanding in the US, Critical Software seeks greater resilience through market diversification, capitalizing on the growing "new space" industry driven by private sector innovations like SpaceX.
