German automotive giant Continental has merged its Portuguese and Spanish operations, creating a new Iberian Sub-Region led by Pedro Teixeira. Previously overseeing the Spanish market, Teixeira now assumes leadership for both countries, aiming to streamline operations, enhance customer service, and boost competitiveness across the region.
As part of this strategic shift, key support functions will be centralized, while sales and customer-facing roles will remain locally embedded to ensure adaptability to each market’s specific needs. Carlos Oliveira will continue overseeing all product segments in Portugal.
Alongside the reorganization, Continental has made a significant investment in Portugal, relocating its warehouse to a larger facility in Castanheira do Ribatejo, increasing capacity by 30% and integrating advanced technology for improved efficiency and sustainability. The company has also expanded urgent delivery services to Greater Porto.
Founded in 1871, Continental employs 200,000 people across 56 countries, with tire production contributing €14 billion in 2023 revenue. The Continental Mabor plant in Vila Nova de Famalicão remains a key production site, having avoided layoffs in the group’s recent restructuring efforts.
