Cloudflare is planning to launch NET Dollar, a stablecoin that is backed by U.S. dollars and is meant for payments related to artificial intelligence. The company's CEO, Matthew Prince, mentioned that this coin will let software agents make quick payments, like booking flights or buying things, without needing a person to be involved.
Cloudflare sees NET Dollar as an important part of the future of how the internet does business, going beyond things like ads and bank transfers.
It will help with payments between AI agents and online services across different networks.
This comes as more big financial companies are getting interested in stablecoins.
Recently, Citi updated its forecast for the stablecoin market, predicting it could reach up to $4 trillion by 2030. Other major firms, including Bank of America and Tether, are also getting involved. Cloudflare has data centers in over 330 cities and handles 78 million HTTP requests every second. The exact date for the launch hasn't been shared yet, but the company says it will be available "soon."
