The cause of the widespread issue is a nasty technical flaw within Cloudflare's global network, which the infrastructure giant is urgently trying to resolve. This glitch has left countless clients unable to use or even reach their applications and web pages.
The fallout is huge, impacting behemoths like the X social network, the globally used ChatGPT AI chatbot and the gaming favorite 'League of Legends'. Other platforms, including Movistar and Canva, are also facing hurdles, often confronting users with the cryptic challenge: "Please unblock challenges.cloudflare.com to continue."
Domestically, in Portugal, key news providers have fallen victim to the outage, including the sites for the Lusa news agency, Eco, Observador and Diário de Notícias.
