Cegid Acquires Spanish Company Microdata to Enhance Electronic Invoicing Solutions

Cegid has acquired the Spanish company Microdata, expanding its range of electronic invoicing solutions in Spain. The acquisition aims to facilitate compliance with new regulations set to take effect in July 2025, which will require Spanish companies to issue invoices using certified software, a practice already in place in Portugal.

Microdata specializes in developing software solutions that help optimize the management of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and accounting firms. The company serves over 2,000 customers and generated a turnover of €2.7 million in 2023. Microdata operates mainly through a direct business model, offering scalable software solutions for taxation, labor management, and SME operations.

Although the acquisition value has not been disclosed, Cegid expects this move to enhance its portfolio, particularly by incorporating solutions compatible with the Verifactu system and electronic invoicing requirements. The integration will provide a seamless transition for SMEs that have not yet adopted invoicing and management software, and will also bolster Cegid’s offerings with a competitive digital signature solution.

Javier Torres, Cegid’s general manager for the Iberian Peninsula, Latin America, and Africa, emphasized the company’s commitment to expanding its leadership in cloud management solutions. In the Iberian Peninsula, Cegid boasts a team of 1,440 employees, more than 800 partners, and a customer base of 112,000, including 7,000 accounting firms serving over 300,000 companies and independent workers.

Microdata CEO Manuel Sánchez expressed confidence in the partnership, stating that the collaboration will provide the company with the resources and development capacity to adapt to an evolving market, ultimately benefiting their customers and team.

Following the acquisition, Manuel Sánchez’s management team will report to Cegid's CPA & SMBs division, led by Fermín Lozano Egea.
