Cegid Acquires PHC Business Software, Expanding Its SME Cloud Solutions in Portugal, Iberia, and Africa

Lisbon, January 21, 2025 – European cloud-based business management leader Cegid has announced the acquisition of PHC Business Software, a major player in Portugal’s SME market. This strategic move strengthens Cegid's position in the cloud management software sector, targeting Portugal, Spanish-speaking regions, and Portuguese-speaking Africa.

Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Lisbon, PHC Business Software supports over 37,000 companies with innovative management tools tailored to SME needs. With 170,000 users, PHC has driven the digital transformation of businesses in Portugal, Spain, and Africa, earning a reputation for high-quality, flexible software.

PHC employs 262 professionals across offices in Lisbon, Porto, Madrid, Maputo, and Luanda. In 2023, the company reported €17.6 million in revenue, supported by its extensive 315-partner distribution network.

PHC founder Ricardo Parreira, who played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s growth, steps down to pursue other projects. João Sampaio, previously Director of PHC’s International Business Unit, assumes leadership as General Director. Sampaio will report to Javier Torres Ramirez, Cegid’s General Manager for Iberia, Latin America, and Portuguese-speaking Africa.

The acquisition follows Cegid’s recent purchases of EBP (France), Microdata (Spain), and sevdesk (Germany), further expanding its SME-focused offerings. PHC joins Cegid’s growing portfolio of solutions, including Primavera, Yet, Valuekeep, and many others.
