Altice Labs Safeguards EU Defense with Quantum Encryption

Altice Labs has joined a European defense project to make military networks safer from new cyber threats. As part of Project Discretion, the company created a software-based network that helps control and manage radios used in dangerous areas. This system allows for secure and reliable military communication.

The main part of this project is Quantum Key Distributio (QKD) technology.

This helps protect messages from both existing and future spying threats, preparing Europe for a future where quantum computing changes cybersecurity.

This project is led by Portugal, which is the first country to lead a defense project in the EU.

Other partners include Deimos Engenharia, Adyta, the Telecommunications Institute at the University of Aveiro, and IST. International partners from Spain, Italy, and Austria are also involved.

The project was supported by two European funding programs: the European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP) and the European Defence Fund.

Project Discretion resulted in two important systems that help with national and regional security:

A secure machine that uses quantum technology to encrypt messages.

Altice Labs says using QKD brings a new and powerful level of security.

This helps strengthen Europe's cyber defense and gives the region more control over its technology and communications.

This project shows Altice Labs is a major innovator in secure communication and highlights Portugal's role in developing the next generation of European defense technologies.
