Adecco 2026 Salary Guide: Tech leadership, data and cybersecurity lead IT demand

Adecco Portugal's 2026 Salary Guide shows that leadership positions in technology, data, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity are becoming more valuable in Portugal. Some jobs like VP of IT or Head of SAP can earn up to €150,000 a year, showing that there's growing need for innovation, security, and scalability.

The study says that the IT sector is still a major force in digital transformation, and companies are looking for professionals who have solid technical skills, a good understanding of strategy, and the ability to work in complicated situations.

Three key areas of value are especially important in 2026:

- Technological leadership positions, like the CIO and CTO, can earn up to €130,000 and €120,000 each year.

- Jobs related to data and AI, such as Head of AI or VP of Data, can have salaries between €70,000 and €150,000.

Cybersecurity is becoming more important as digital threats increase and new rules are being put in place. Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) are now earning up to €120,000 because of the growing need for strong security measures.

Infrastructure and cloud roles are still very important, and Solutions and Enterprise Architects can earn between €65,000 and €110,000. Software development is still in high demand, with Tech Leads and Software Architects making up to €90,000, and more experienced developers earning around €75,000.

ERP, especially SAP, is still one of the top-paying fields because there's a lack of skilled workers and these systems are hard to set up and manage.

Even though salaries are going up, it's getting harder to find and keep skilled IT workers. Career growth, work flexibility, and working on important projects are now just as important as salary, which shows that IT is becoming a key part of a business's plan for staying strong and coming up with new ideas.
