Portugal didn’t just grow its tech scene in 2025 — it leveled up. A total of 55 tech companies opened new hubs across the country, marking another record year and confirming that the market is no longer just expanding, but maturing.
The shift is clear. Portugal is moving beyond classic web development toward deep tech, cybersecurity, energy, aeronautics, and critical infrastructure. Just as important, growth is no longer limited to Lisbon and Porto. Cities like Viana do Castelo, Santa Maria da Feira, Beja, and Sines are now firmly on the tech map.
Following the pattern seen since 2019, international companies continue to choose Portugal — but with a stronger focus on decentralization and long-term presence. A standout example is Snyk, which consolidated its Portuguese footprint after acquiring Probely and Reviewpad, integrating local teams into its global security structure.
The list is the most complete on the market and is organized by region:
Lisbon area: 29 companies
Porto & North/Central: 16 companies
Other regions (Alentejo, Madeira, Azores): 4 companies
Remote or no fixed HQ: 6 companies
Among the highlights, Upwork opened its first physical office outside the US in Lisbon, while AstraZeneca announced a €600M investment to build a major hub employing 750 people.
Portugal in 2025 isn’t just attracting tech companies — it’s becoming a strategic European hub for serious technology and global operations. And this trajectory doesn’t look like it’s slowing down.
