Randstad Digital is recruiting a Senior Platform Engineer for direct integration into a company located in Porto. Hybrid work model (3 days on-site; 2 days remote/week).

The Senior Platform Engineer is a practical technical specialist responsible for the design, construction, and operation of scalable and secure data platform capabilities within Microsoft Fabric. This role focuses on managing and optimizing Fabric environments, including networking, capacity, and integration with Azure services, while enabling reliable, high-performance data pipelines through the Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, and Gold). Using Python for automation, orchestration, and tools, the engineer develops reusable platform components and applies infrastructure as code principles.

The role also implements and maintains CI/CD pipelines for Fabric artifacts (e.g., Dataflows, Notebooks, Lakehouses, Pipelines), ensuring automated testing, deployment, and version control across all environments. Working closely with architects and data engineers, the Senior Platform Engineer ensures compliance with business standards for networking, security, and governance, promoting best practices in DevOps, observability, and continuous improvement of the metadata-driven data platform.

Job Description

• Participate in the design, development, and implementation of scalable data engineering solutions through the Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold);
• Design and maintain efficient data pipelines and integration processes using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and ADLS / Onelake;
• Develop, test, and implement ETL/ELT workflows in SQL, PySpark, and pure Python, ensuring quality, consistency, and performance of data;
• Collaborate with data architects, data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to define data requirements and provide high-quality solutions aligned with governance and modeling standards;
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines and architectures for scalability, reliability, and efficiency;
• Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and regulatory standards throughout the data lifecycle. Both in ETL workflows and the overall platform architecture;
• Maintain clear technical documentation and promote reusable frameworks, automation, and best practices;
• Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• More than 5 years of professional experience in data engineering with proven experience in Azure technologies;
• Strong knowledge in designing, implementing, and managing complex data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and integration solutions;
• Advanced knowledge in data modeling, dimensional design, and data warehousing using SQL, NoSQL, and columnar databases;
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse (dedicated and serverless), and Azure Data Lake Storage;
• Proficiency in Python and PySpark for scalable data processing; additional experience with Java or Scala is a plus;
• Knowledge of ETL packages in Python such as Pandas, Polars, or DuckDB;
• A solid understanding of platform principles, such as networking, orchestration, and metadata-driven architecture;
• Expert-level SQL skills for complex transformations, optimization, and performance tuning;
• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies, including CI/CD implementation using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions;
• Practical knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker;
• Good understanding of best practices for data governance, data quality, and security (RBAC, encryption, GDPR);
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to mentor engineers and effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams;
• Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and Cognite Data Fusion (CDF) is a plus.
• Proficiency in English is essential.

Direct contract (permanent contract), health and life insurance, meal allowance of €10.2/day worked, annual bonus of up to 8% (company results and individual performance) + €40/month for transport + pension plan.
