Tooling Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Oliveira de Azeméis Region, Portugal

Client Location: Zaragoza

Function Mission

Integrate into the client's Tooling team (currently composed of 6 Tool Leaders), ensuring complete technical management of injection molds from definition phase to SOP + 3 months post ramp-up, ensuring quality, timing, and cost control.

The team reinforcement is associated with the entry of new projects, focusing on having resources located in Portugal, close to the main mold makers in the region.

Main Responsibilities

  • Defining the mold policy for new projects
  • Launching and monitoring RFQ with mold makers
  • Technical analysis of proposals (costs, timing, technical concept)
  • Monitoring the construction of molds (built-to-print or complete development)
  • Presence and validation in the first trials (try-outs) in the tool rooms
  • Management of recording and technical modifications
  • Qualification of the mold on site
  • Ensuring compliance with quality, deadlines, and budget
  • Support until SOP + 3 months post ramp-up

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in automotive tooling
  • Strong knowledge in injection molds for automotive interiors
  • Experience in mold management from RFQ to SOP
  • Experience in OEM or Tier 1 environment
  • Negotiation skills with suppliers
  • Autonomy and proximity to the site (presence at mold makers is critical)
  • Fluency in English (Spanish is valued)
