Job Title: Cloud Engineer

Location: Lisbon or Aveiro, Portugal

Work Regime: Full-time & Hybrid (1x to 2x office days)

Overview / Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Cloud/DevOps Engineer to optimize cloud costs and manage multi-cloud infrastructure. You will work with Cassandra and Elasticsearch clusters, Terraform, and Kubernetes to improve performance, automation, and efficiency across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

- Drive and execute high-impact projects to reduce expenses by optimizing storage volumes (e.g., EBS categorization), evaluating and implementing new resource types (such as Azure Premium SSD V2), and identifying opportunities for vertical or horizontal scaling.

- Oversee the continuous configuration and optimization of critical Cassandra and Elasticsearch clusters, including data migrations, downscaling, and configuration changes to improve performance and cost efficiency.

- Develop, test, and deploy multi-cloud infrastructure solutions using Terraform, supporting core applications and services across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

- Enhance existing infrastructure through automation of key processes, such as creating new Kubernetes Virtual Node Groups (VNGs) and configuring network routing to reduce data transfer costs.

- Work closely with cross-functional teams to plan and implement production changes safely. This role requires the ability to handle complex tasks independently and take on a technical leadership role.

- Apply best development practices to create scripts and tools that automate cloud operations and support cost management efforts.

Requirements

Mandatory Requirements:

- +5 years as a Cloud, DevOps, or SRE Engineer with a strong focus on cloud operations and infrastructure.

- Experience designing, implementing, and managing solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

- Experience with large-scale, production Cassandra and Elasticsearch clusters.

- Expertise with Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud resources.

- Experience with Docker and managing/optimizing Kubernetes clusters.

- Fluency in English.

Complementary Requirements:

- Experience in large-scale cloud cost optimization initiatives (right-sizing resources, reserved instances, storage and networking optimization).

- Continuous learning mindset and adaptability to evolving project scope.
