Senior Java Backend Developer

Komodo Consulting is a technology and strategy company specialized in Digital Transformation. With operations in Portugal and Poland, we provide IT Consulting and Nearshore services. We support organizations in the public and private sectors through two main areas:

• Consulting — focusing on strategy, investment analysis, and improving digital processes;
• IT Team Augmentation — helping clients scale and strengthen their technology teams.

We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Developer to work on a technology project.

You will have the following responsibilities:

• Design, build and maintain backend services and APIs using Java, consistently applying object-oriented programming principles and design patterns;
• Implement infrastructure-as-code components using Terraform to support scalable and repeatable environments;
• Build and evolve event-driven integrations using Kafka;
• Develop and maintain automated tests (unit and integration), applying TDD and shift-left practices;
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and workflows using Git-based version control and automation;
• Deploy and operate services in Kubernetes environments, supporting reliability and performance;
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems and deliver high-quality solutions.

You need to have the following skills/experience:

• More than 5 years of software development experience with a strong focus on Java backend development;
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and common design patterns;
• Experience with Terraform for provisioning and automating infrastructures;
• Hands-on experience with unit tests, integration tests, and TDD/shift-left practices;
• Proficiency with Git and CI/CD concepts and workflows;
• Knowledge of Kafka and event-driven architectures;
• Experience working with Kubernetes in development and/or production environments;
• Experience with GraphQL Federation;
• Knowledge of Azure Cloud;

Fully Remote (preference for candidates based in Bulgaria, Morocco, or South Africa).
