Senior Storage Administrator – IBM TSM/Storage Protect (Backup & Recovery)

Location & work model: Lisbon-based opportunity with a hybrid work model (up to 2 remote days/week).

As a Senior Storage Administrator – IBM TSM/Storage Protect (Backup & Recovery), you will be working for our client in a 3-sites environment where data protection, recoverability, and operational resilience are critical. You will help ensure that backup systems are stable, recoveries are reliable, retention policies are properly enforced, and infrastructure health is continuously monitored—while collaborating closely with infrastructure, DBA teams, and business stakeholders to strengthen processes and operational knowledge.

Your main responsibilities:

• Administer and operate 10 IBM TSM servers in operational mode, ensuring high availability and consistent performance.
• Manage backup management, archives, and recovery procedures to guarantee data is backed up and fully recoverable.
• Maintain and optimize storage pools and define/enforce retention policies according to operational requirements.
• Perform restores and troubleshoot complex backup/recovery issues, validating end-to-end integrity across environments.
• Ensure advanced handling of IBM tape libraries and tape management as part of the backup strategy.
• Provide and maintain AZQORE documentation, and continuously improve procedures with actionable recommendations.
• Work with infra teams (Network, Wintel, Security) and DBA teams to support aligned operations and effective incident recovery.
• Deliver process training to business owners to improve adoption of best practices and operational readiness.

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar storage administration / backup & recovery role.
• Expert knowledge of IBM Storage Protect (formerly TSM) on AIX and Linux (SP Version > 8).
• Advanced experience with TSM administration, including day-to-day backup operations and recovery procedures.
• Strong capability in requesting and handling TSM DB2 database operations for operational stability and recovery readiness.
• Advanced backup management and archive knowledge, including reliable restore validation.
• Hands-on understanding of tape-based backup components, including IBM tape libraries and tape management.
• Working knowledge of scripting for automation and troubleshooting: bash, ksh, Python, Perl.
• Experience with DB2 / RMAN / TDP concepts (including SQL scripting capability for DB2).

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Hands-on experience with Storage Protect for VE / VMware.
• Knowledge of backup protocols such as S3 and NDMP.
• ITIL knowledge for incident and change management.
• DELL / IBM / Hitachi storage knowledge and/or IBM Power systems knowledge (AIX and Linux on Power).

Language Required for the role:

• English (B2–C1) — communicative, able to collaborate with teams and support user/process training.
