Senior COBOL Developer – DB2, SQL, JCL, CI/CD

Lisbon-based opportunity with hybrid work model (up to 3 days remote per week).

As a Senior COBOL Developer, you will be working for our client, a leading IT solutions provider, specializing in maintaining and evolving critical business systems across various industries. You will play a pivotal role in developing, optimizing, and supporting core applications that drive operational excellence and innovation. Your main responsibilities:

Develop, test, and maintain COBOL applications integrated with DB2 databases, utilizing SQL, JCL, and Unix/Shell scripting.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Jira/Confluence and Eclipse to streamline development and deployment processes.
Implement CI/CD pipelines to enhance continuous integration and delivery of software solutions.
Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, performing root cause analysis and applying effective fixes.
Support system upgrades, migrations, and optimization efforts to improve performance and reliability.
Document technical specifications and system configurations adhering to best practices.

You are ideal for this role if you have:

At least 4 years of experience in COBOL development within enterprise environments.
Strong knowledge of DB2, SQL, and JCL.
Hands-on experience with Unix/Shell scripting and CI/CD processes.
Familiarity with Jira/Confluence and Eclipse IDE.
Fluent command of English, both written and spoken.
Ability to work effectively within a hybrid model, balancing onsite and remote work.

It is a strong plus if you have:

Certifications in related technologies or methodologies.
Experience with legacy system modernization projects.
