Senior Backend QA Engineer – Java, Test Automation, Payments

As a Senior QA Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leading banking group, dedicated to delivering secure and reliable IT payment solutions. You will help design and implement high-performance backend testing frameworks and ensure the integrity and excellence of complex financial systems, fueling innovation and growth in the payments industry.

Your main responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain robust test automation frameworks for backend Java applications, microservices, and APIs.
• Perform manual testing to define strategies and create test cases for intricate backend business logic and batch processing.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Tech Leads, and Developers to translate payment domain business rules into automated, executable test scenarios.
• Validate database integrity, complex queries, and data processing through SQL scripts and transactional behavior evaluations.
• Promote QA best practices by fostering a 'Quality First' and 'Shift-Left' testing culture across teams.
• Troubleshoot, isolate, and document defects accurately, including log and root-cause analysis.
• Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines to ensure automated continuous testing and quality gates.

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• Over 6 years of professional QA experience with a focus on backend testing and automation.
• Proven expertise in automating backend tests using Java-based tools such as REST Assured, JUnit, TestNG, and Cucumber.
• Strong knowledge of Java (17/21), Spring Boot, and log debugging techniques.
• Excellent SQL skills (Oracle or PostgreSQL) for database validation and data migration.
• Hands-on experience with Test Management tools (Xray, Zephyr) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI or similar).

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Experience testing asynchronous architectures and messaging queues such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.
• Familiarity with Spring Batch processes.

Language Required for the role:

• Fluent English (B2/C1). French language skills are a plus but not mandatory.
