Senior Application Support Engineer – Banking & Trade Finance

Porto-based opportunity with hybrid work model (up to 3 days remote per week).

As a Senior Application Support Engineer, you will be working for our client, a global financial institution dedicated to innovative banking solutions and trade finance services. This role focuses on ensuring the operational stability of critical test and production environments, supporting seamless banking operations through technical expertise and proactive incident management. Your main responsibilities:

• Support and maintain test environments by managing batch processes, handling message queues, and executing SQL scripts to ensure operational continuity.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and developers to unblock issues and implement rapid solutions.
• Participate in technical incident management for production systems, ensuring timely resolution to minimize business impact.
• Coordinate actions across multi-location teams to support a reliable testing and production environment aligned with banking and trade finance needs.
• Apply SQL expertise and CI-CD practices within an Agile framework to optimize operational workflows.
• Contribute to incident resolution using ServiceNow or Jira tools, ensuring efficient incident lifecycle management.

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• At least 6 years of experience in application/support engineering within the banking or financial services industry.
• Proficiency in SQL, with solid knowledge of Oracle databases, views, and scripting.
• Basic knowledge of Java technology, especially in back-end development.
• Hands-on experience with CI-CD tools such as Jenkins, XLD, and XLR.
• Familiarity with incident management tools (ServiceNow, Jira).
• Understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum).
• Strong communication skills in English at a fluent (C1) level.

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Knowledge of ControlM, CFT, MQ Series, FBTI, or XL Deploy.
• Experience working in the banking and Trade Finance sectors.

Language Required for the role:

Fluent English command.
